The weather outside is....

Well... definitely not frightful!  I went out to feed the bum-lambs at noon today and it was forty degrees!  I really think that we skipped February and went straight to June.  Here's hoping that the weather stays warm....

Where did January go?

I know that it came, and I know that we did various things this month, but where did it go?!?!?!?  I have decided that since it isn't really winter but it really isn't spring that it really wasn't January...Cody (my older brother) dubbed this new season "Sprinter".  Well bum lamb season has definitely started and we now have instead of just two bummers, we now have three more.  School is flowing right along and I can't believe how far I am in some of my subjects...and how neglected others are (history anyone?). This is a picture of Hugh (6) with the latest Lego creation...

Geese in January?!?

Here's pictures of two very odd occurrences...

Snow pictures

On the mini sledding hill
Shoveling the trampoline
I was looking through my camera today and found some very interesting pictures of snow and my little brothers playing in the snow, here's a couple of my favorites!
These past few weeks we have had a few major snowstorms to make up for the lack of snow prior to Christmas. The pictures of Hugh on the mini sledding hill, Dad starting the Barbecue, the Dryer vent, the Russian Olive trees, and the shoveling of the trampoline are all from last year. The only picture from this year is of Liam (10) and Hugh (6) breaking the "fort" with butter knives.

Starting the barbecue
The dryer vent!

And now here's a poem that is one of my favorites:

This Is the Key

This is the key of the kingdom:
In that kingdom there is a city.
In that city there is a town.
In that town there is a street.
In that street there is a lane.
In that lane there is a yard.
In that yard there is a house.
In that house there is a room.
In that room there is a bed.
On that bed there is a basket.
In that basket there are some flowers.
Flowers in a basket.
Basket on the bed.
Bed in the room.
Room in the house.
House in the yard.
Yard in the lane.
Lane in the street.
Street in the town.
Town in the city.
City in the kingdom.
Of the kingdom this is the key.

Sort of a longer poem but it is entirely fun and games when reading it out-loud as fast as you can to a very hyper six-year old.

Fishes!

Well...Hugh and I discovered the fish gadget on blogger and added two sets of fish to my blog.  Hugh thinks that it is fun to feed the fish, and to randomly change  the colors of the fish.  He also had fun finding various pictures on the blog.  We also found out that you can't see the fish on Mom's ITouch, only on a computer.  That's because you need a mouse to make the fish move and to feed them.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Merry Christmas!

Well December is finally here...but the only snow that we get turns into slush in less than a day...I took the picture on the right at about 8 in the morning and by noon there wasn't any snow on the tall grass any more and the mud was showing through the snow.
Then again, it is better than being snowed in... Hugh ( 6 yr. old little brother) built the sweetest fort with me while we had a few inches of snow, and before it turned to slush... and as i am looking through the camera we didn't take a picture of it!

I also bought a baby Nigerian pygmy goat in November...back then he was smaller than a cat, now he is about the same size as a very fat/tall/hyper cat. Right now he is really grumpy because he has been taken from four meals a day to three meals a day...he is definitely able to express himself!
We also have extremely early bum lambs (orphan lambs), we started with four, and now we have two... but they're thriving, so it is all good. Well now it is about time to go make the bottles for the bummers and the mighty Thor (amazingly cute pygmy goat)! And here's a cute picture to boot, This is me when I was around four (?) at Grandma Sherie's house eating a huge "crispy treat" on my way to play in the snow!

Mondays....

I can't believe it is already October! It definitely does not feel like October. It has been cold and rainy, not crisp and cozy like it should be! Looking back at previous posts (there's not very many to look at...) I have come to the conclusion that A. Home coming went pretty well considering that Bear River won, B. Dance is extremely fun, and our jazz dance is my current favorite, and finally C. I was wrong about the school books, their still coming in full force! I am currently setting up a flower garden and I am hoping to put the bulbs in the ground soon. We are also turning an old bookshelf/cabinet into a raised bed which will hold some kind of flower. Since it is so close to bed time I have added a poem for my little brother, Hugh, because he says that tomorrow his bed will be the Ark, a spaceship, and invisible!

From The Bed Book
By Sylvia Plath

Most Beds are Beds
For sleeping or resting,
But the best beds are much
More interesting!

Not just a white little
Tucked-in-tight little
Nighty-nighty little
Turn-out-the-light little
Bed-

                    Instead
A Bed for Fishing
A Bed for Cats,
A Bed for a Troupe of
                     Acrobats.

The right sort of Bed
(If you see what I mean)
Is a Bed that might
Be a Submarine

Nosing through water
Clear and green,
Sliver and glittery
As a sardine.

Or a Jet-Propelled Bed
For Visiting Mars
With a mosquito nest
For the shooting stars...

Recent Happenings.....

Well first off, on the seventh I received my learner's permit, mainly
because Mother wouldn't let me put it off any longer, but it wasn't too bad... Then on the twelfth I went exploring in the garden and I found...

Ants invading!
Flaming Sunflowers

Snakes!

The little sweet peas!

Then Monday came... and with Monday came dance class, and I'm still sore! The last of my school books (I think) came on Monday too! Not much happened on Tuesday, except I made ginger snaps and they tasted really good! After I got done making the cookies, Mother laughed at me because I had made a cookie which was roughly 5 inches in diameter, and then I ate the whole thing. It was delicious! Wednesday not much happened , except I finished my old science book. Again nothing happened on Thursday, but today the 17th of September is a very special day. It is the youngest brother's birthday!!!! Today he officially turns 6 and he has been super excited about his birthday since May!

Here's the birthday boy!
